The Benefits of Using a Freelance Salesman

There are any number of benefits for using a freelance salesman, I have looked at the reasons I have been given for using my services over the years. Remember employing staff whether freelance or permanent employees is not only a time consuming business, but often also a costly one. For me it is about the personal connection with the individual and whether I believe that they can deliver what they promise. Whether they can take a new approach, or bring something to the business that will have added value.

1. Generally freelance salesman are more cost effective.

Hired for specific contracts, with set terms, no pension contributions, no cars, no phones, no desks, no expense accounts (generally), no redundancy, no retirement plan, you know precisely what they will cost and when and how they will be paid from the outset.

2. Flexibility.

Imagine you have extra demand for your product for four weeks over Christmas for example and a freelance salesman can fill the gap, and leave without fuss when the contract ends. Also due the nature of the freelancer they are often self employed and are more willing to work extended hours, unsociable hours or as and when required. So all round freelancers tend to be much more flexible with time and resources.

3. What could you do with the time a freelance salesman frees up?

As this author and the author of an article at the Entrepreneur Magazine both agree, as mentors and coaches we often encourage our business owners to outsource some core functions in order to free up time to concentrate on the business. For instance, I hazard a guess that you use an accountant, maybe a bookkeeper, or a cleaner within your business, why not give your sales a boost and use a freelance salesman?

4. Extended contacts.

A freelance salesman usually has his or her own list of contacts to refer or sell your products into. Remember, when checking out prospective freelancers to take a look not only at the CV and website they present to you but also at their Linkedin profile for instance look at mine Carl Bradshaw FInstSMM..
